About Dr. Maiocco

Brian Maiocco, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic Specialists in Palm Harbor, Florida. He utilizes both surgical and non-surgical treatment to help his patients return to an active lifestyle. When surgery is necessary, he uses the latest techniques in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle, including cartilage transplantation and ligament reconstruction.

A native Floridian from Miami, Dr. Maiocco attended the University of Miami, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he received many honors including the Barry D. Stein Award for the most outstanding student in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Maiocco completed a general surgery internship followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Upon completion, he was awarded Most Outstanding Fellow of all specialties. He then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. While there, he was a clinical instructor to medical students and orthopedic residents at the Georgetown Medical School.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also has a board-certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine.

Dr. Maiocco has been a consultant to Olympic, professional, and collegiate athletes, including the U.S. Olympic Track team, the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics team, Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, and D.C. United. He has treated athletes from the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and athletes in other professional sports. He has served as the team physician for several area high schools, as well. 

Dr. Maiocco and his family live in Crystal Beach. In his free time, he enjoys participating in triathlons, snowboarding, golf, and soccer.
