Patient Care Spotlight: Cindy R.

Orthopedic Specialists' Cindy R. doing PT and in bodybuilding competition

Patient Care Spotlight - Cindy Rice – May 2022

Physical therapy assistant Cindy R. is known for her love of wellness and fitness – both as a teacher and a lifelong student. It fuels her desire to help patients regain strength and flexibility at Orthopedic Specialists. “I love what I do because I can help people become the best version of themselves,” she says.

A native of England, Cindy came to the United States on a swimming scholarship at the University of Evansville in Indiana. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology. A career with the Red Cross eventually brought her to Florida, where she worked with the YMCA in leading aquatic wellness and fitness programs. She attended St. Petersburg College in a physical therapy assistant program and has been with Orthopedic Specialists for 12 years.

“It’s a very nice atmosphere to work in. It has a family feel that’s hard to find, and it puts patients at ease,” she says.

Cindy has also worked as a personal trainer and spin class instructor but her most rewarding activity is figure bodybuilding. She has been competing at the national level since 2015. When she’s not at work or on stage, Cindy and her husband share an enthusiasm for Disney, cruising, and their fur baby, Marley.
