Dr. Christopher James Earns Board Certification

Congratulations to Christopher James, M.D., adult reconstructive specialist, who recently earned his board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). establishes standards for an orthopedic physician's education, practice, and conduct. Certification by this prestigious organization occurs following residency or fellowship and two years of practice. Board-eligible candidates must pass rigorous written and oral examinations.

“It’s been a long road and an exciting journey,” says Dr. James, a Tampa native and second-generation physician. “I am honored to continue serving patients at Orthopedic Specialists with this high standard of assurance and recognition.”

A graduate of Jesuit High School in Tampa, Dr. James earned his undergraduate degree at Purdue University, where he was a wide receiver on the football team. He completed medical school at Saint George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, and in select New York City area hospitals.

Dr. James completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia followed by a fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery in Northshore University Health System in Chicago. 

He has extensive training in all aspects of both operative and nonoperative orthopedics, with a special interest in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery. He is trained in the most advanced robotic joint replacement technologies and uses minimally invasive approaches for knee replacements and both muscle-sparing direct anterior as well as a mini posterior hip approach.
