Chris James, MD, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon on the team at Orthopedic Specialists. He is proud to serve patients throughout Palm Harbor, Florida. 

After graduating from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida, Dr. James received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University, where he played for the football team as a wide receiver. He went on to complete medical school at Saint George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, and in select New York City area hospitals.

Dr. James completed an orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, followed by a fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery in Chicago, Illinois, at Northshore University Health System. 

Dr. James has had extensive training in all aspects of both operative and nonoperative orthopedics. His main interest is adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery that entails both primary and revision surgery. At Orthopedic Specialists, Dr. James performs a variety of procedures, including hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, periprosthetic fracture surgery, and knee and joint injections, to name a few. 

He has been trained in the most advanced technologies in joint replacement surgery that employ robotic surgical techniques to balance the bones and knee ligaments, allowing for enhanced recovery and improved function. Dr. James uses minimally invasive approaches for his knee replacements and both muscle-sparing direct anterior as well as a mini posterior hip approach.

In his spare time, Dr. James enjoys trying to impress his friends and family with his culinary skills. As a former Purdue football wide receiver, he enjoys cheering for all Boilermakers sports. He also is a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

When not at work, Dr. James can be found spending time with his family cooking elaborate meals for them.
